The Antholz Valley is part of the Dolomites Region Kronplatz and lies within the Rieserferner-Ahrn / Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park – a landscape shaped by untouched nature, living traditions, and genuine hospitality.
To preserve this unique place to live and relax, we as the local tourism association are committed to sustainable development – for our guests, the local community, and future generations.
Our work is based on the four pillars of sustainability: ecological, economic, social, and cultural. Together with local partners, we promote mindful action, regional value creation, and the responsible use of natural resources.
At present, we are working – together with the Olang Tourism Association and supported by IDM South Tyrol – on certification according to the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), to ensure that tourism in the valley remains sustainable in the long term.
So that future generations can also experience the full diversity of the Antholz Valley.
The Sustainability Label South Tyrol is based on the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which establish a shared understanding of sustainable tourism. The criteria are divided into four main areas:
Management
Socio-Economy
Culture
Ecology
The label allows destinations, accommodation, and gastronomy businesses to transparently showcase their commitment to sustainable development. Sustainability is a long-term journey, which is why the label has three progressive levels, each verified through an audit. Each level requires compliance with different criteria, with the highest level corresponding to the GSTC certification, which is internationally recognized.
The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) was established in 2007 and is dedicated to defining fundamental sustainability standards in tourism. GSTC serves as an international benchmark for responsible, sustainable tourism. Independent auditors review annual activity reports and assess actual progress.
The evaluation standards are divided into four main areas:
Sustainable Management
Socio-Economic Sustainability
Cultural Sustainability
Environmental Sustainability

In the Antholz Valley, we actively shape the sustainable development of our valley – ecologically, economically, socially, and culturally.
Our goal is to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of this unique region while promoting responsible tourism. Together with local partners, we work to protect resources, strengthen regional cycles, and raise awareness for mindful cooperation – today and for future generations.
Our Code of Ethics is our guiding principle: it brings together our values of collaboration, equal opportunities, community, environmental stewardship, and cultural identity.
With this code, we commit to tourism that is honest, sustanable, respectful, and inclusive - for the people of our region and for generations to come.
The greatest challenge of our time:
Climate change is neither to be denied nor stopped – its effects are already noticeable in our Dolomite region. Rising temperatures are changing both nature and tourism.
Outdoor activities are possible earlier in the year, while winter starts later and brings fewer days of snow. Together with local partners, we are developing new offers, adjusted season timings, and sustainable solutions for the future.
Roadmap - Climate change adaptation
The current economic impact analysis highlights the positive contribution tourism makes to the Antholz Valley. It shows how visitor spending extends far beyond accommodation and, through direct, indirect, and induced effects, contributes to regional economic value and helps secure jobs.
With great joy, Rasen-Antholz can now officially call itself a Climate Municipality Silver.
This recognition, awarded as part of the Climate Municipality Program, confirms our shared commitment to climate and environmental protection.
The certification as a Climate Municipality Silver marks another important milestone on our path toward a climate-friendly and future-oriented community.
Together, we are shaping a sustainable future – for ourselves and for generations to come.
