When the first rays of sunlight gild the mountain peaks, the alpine lake lies quietly among the forests, and only the sound of cowbells breaks the silence, you can feel it: the Antholz Valley is a truly special place. A place that gives strength, slows the pace of life, and brings people together.
To ensure that this beauty can still be experienced tomorrow, it requires mindfulness and respect. Through small, conscious choices, you as a guest can make a meaningful contribution: move thoughtfully, show consideration for people and wildlife, and leave nature as you would wish to find it.
Together, we create unforgettable moments – in harmony with a landscape that is close to all our hearts.
Respectful interaction with the surrounding nature and the preservation of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of the Dolomites — this is the aim of the project “Respect the mountain“
The initiative, launched by IDM South Tyrol, the Provincial Department for Nature, Landscape and Spatial Development, and the Provincial Agency for the Environment and Climate Protection, is aimed equally at guests, locals, and tourism operators in South Tyrol. Through various activities and measures, it seeks to raise awareness of environmentally friendly and responsible behavior in the mountains and in everyday life.
A major focus is placed in particular on topics related to drinking water and waste prevention.

The huts of the Antholz Valley are not only unique natural and cultural landscapes, but also valuable habitats for grazing animals.
For people, animals, and nature to live together in harmony, mutual respect and careful behavior are essential.
By following a few simple rules, you can help ensure that your time at the huts remains safe – while also protecting and preserving our traditional cultural landscape.
KEY POINTS AT A GLANCE
Your best friend is warmly welcome in the Antholz Valley!
To make your stay safe and enjoyable, please: keep your dog on a leash, stay on marked trails, and keep distance from grazing animals – especially mother cows with calves. With respect and care, your holiday with your dog will be safe, relaxed, and full of great memories.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Wild animals are shy. To ensure a harmonious coexistence, visitors in nature should keep a few things in mind:
Collecting mushrooms in the Antholz Valley is not only about finding delicious treasures – it’s also about experiencing the richness of nature. Mushrooms are more than a treat in the kitchen; they are an important part of the forest’s ecological balance. To make this experience sustainable, please follow the rules and treat nature with respect.
Guidelines for picking:
Our Alps are a valuable and sensitive habitat. Because of the special climate, waste takes much longer to decompose here – some materials never break down. Leftover trash can harm the environment and even injure animals and people. That’s why the best waste is the one that never gets created!
How you can help keep nature clean:
Together we can keep our mountains clean – for ourselves and for future generations!
A clean environment matters to us all. Please help by separating your waste carefully, even during your holiday:
Your life-saving number
In all EU countries, you can call 112 free of charge for ambulance, fire, or police. Even in the mountains, this is the most important number for emergencies.
Tip: No signal? Restart your phone and enter 112 instead of the PIN – you can still call for help.
… modern snowmaking for our cross-country trails
For our cross-country trails, we use modern snowmaking technology that is eco-friendly, energy-saving, and efficient. We produce only as much snow as needed – and only when the temperatures are right.
The water is used twice: first to produce electricity at the Antholz power plant, and then again to make snow for the trails.
Kronplatz stands not only for first-class winter sports, but also for growing awareness in the careful use of nature and resources. As a modern ski area, Kronplatz focuses on sustainable measures – from energy-efficient snowmaking and optimized use of energy and water to the promotion of public transport.
The goal: skiing at the highest level – in harmony with the environment
