Because Nature Matters to Us

The project “Respect the Mountains” aims to protect nature and preserve the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
Started by IDM South Tyrol together with provincial partners, the initiative speaks to guests, locals, and those working in tourism. With different activities, it raises awareness for eco-friendly and responsible behavior – in the mountains and in daily life.

The main focus: protecting drinking water and reducing waste.

Your Personal Guide
MOVE – hike and bike

With MOVE – Hike and Bike, hiking and cycling become more personal than ever. Developed together with the Department of Medicine at the University of Padua, the app puts your health and well-being first.

What makes MOVE special:

Instead of giving general times, the app calculates your personal walking or cycling time – based on your age, fitness level, and health. This helps you plan better, avoid exhaustion, and enjoy your tour at a relaxed pace.

How it works:

  • Download the MOVE app
  • Scan the QR code at the starting point
  • Choose your tour
  • See your personal time

You also get all the key details about your route: map, route profile, and difficulty level – all tailored to you.

MOVE – Hike and Bike: For more safety, more well-being – and a nature experience that truly fits you.

Safe in the Mountains

The huts of the Antholz Valley are not only unique natural and cultural landscapes, but also valuable habitats for grazing animals.
For people, animals, and nature to live together in harmony, mutual respect and careful behavior are essential.

By following a few simple rules, you can help ensure that your time at the huts remains safe – while also protecting and preserving our traditional cultural landscape.

KEY POINTS AT A GLANCE
Hiking with your dog

Your best friend is warmly welcome in the Antholz Valley!

To make your stay safe and enjoyable, please: keep your dog on a leash, stay on marked trails, and keep distance from grazing animals – especially mother cows with calves. With respect and care, your holiday with your dog will be safe, relaxed, and full of great memories.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Mushroom Picking

Collecting mushrooms in the Antholz Valley is not only about finding delicious treasures – it’s also about experiencing the richness of nature. Mushrooms are more than a treat in the kitchen; they are an important part of the forest’s ecological balance. To make this experience sustainable, please follow the rules and treat nature with respect.

Guidelines for picking:

  • Permit required (€10 per person/day, available at the Antholz Valley Tourist Office or online)
  • Allowed only on even calendar days, from 07:00–19:00
  • Maximum 1 kg per person/day (age 14+)
  • Not allowed in nature parks or protected areas (e.g. left side of the valley, Oberrasen biotope, Lake Antholz)
  • Clean mushrooms roughly at the place where you find them and transport only in breathable baskets

Emergency Information

Your life-saving number

EMERGENCY 112

In all EU countries, you can call 112 free of charge for ambulance, fire, or police. Even in the mountains, this is the most important number for emergencies.

Tip: No signal? Restart your phone and enter 112 instead of the PIN – you can still call for help.

Responsible into the Future

modern snowmaking for our cross-country trails

For our cross-country trails, we use modern snowmaking technology that is eco-friendly, energy-saving, and efficient. We produce only as much snow as needed – and only when the temperatures are right.

The water is used twice: first to produce electricity at the Antholz power plant, and then again to make snow for the trails.
