The valley extends deep into the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and nestles on the sunny side of the Croda Nera-Schwarze Wand, the Cima di Pianalto-Hochflachkofl and the Collaspro-Wildgall. Down below, on the valley floor, the cross country ski trails of Niederrasen snake their way through the entire valley as far as the Lake Antholz at the end of the valley. Region No. 02 of the Dolomiti Nordicski carousel comprises 62 km (37 miles) of cross country ski trails: valley slope, Niederrasner Möser, circuit biotope, slope of the bears, slope Lake Antholz, and much more trail loops at the Biathlon Center.
Those unfamiliar with the area may be overwhelmed by the choices at first, but don’t worry, there is help: the various starting points offer not only equipment for rental, but also advice as well as lessons. At the Biathlon Center, pretty much everyone is struck by the temptation to take a shot. And if, against all expectations, Jack Frost and the snow fairies don’t hold to their pacts of many years, then snowmaking technology will provide for flawlessly prepared trails. So nothing stands in the way of a cross country skiing vacation in the enchanted natural landscape of the Antholz valley – for beginners or pros.
