This varied circular hike connects the historic Maierhöfe farms above Antholz Niedertal with beautiful views over the valley and peaceful trails through meadows, forests and traditional rural landscapes.
The route first leads along sunny slopes to the traditional Maierhöfe farms and then continues to the peacefully located Wiesemannhof farm. Along the way, beautiful panoramic views repeatedly open up over the Antholz Valley and the surrounding mountains.
Thanks to the connection between Antholz Niedertal and Antholz Mittertal, the hike is ideal as a relaxed half-day tour for leisure hikers and families.
The starting point is the church in Antholz Niedertal.
From there, follow the uphill asphalt road marked no. 11. The route passes the Oberhof farm dairy.
Behind the next house after the dairy, trail no. 6 branches off. It leads underneath the main road to the other side of the valley towards the historic Maierhöfe farms – Pfaffingerhof farm and Kaltenhauserhof farm.
Continue following trail no. 6 to Wiesemannhof farm.
From there, continue along the asphalt road further into the valley to the sawmill Ausserweger in Antholz Mittertal.
Now walk along the pavement beside the main road to the skilift Riepen and then, on the opposite side of the road, along the hamlet “Dörfl” back to Antholz Niedertal.
Of course, the circular hike can also be completed in the opposite direction or started directly in Antholz Mittertal.
Take bus line 431 from the Olang-Antholz train station or from Lake Antholz to the stop “Antholz Niedertal”.
