The hike to the Staller Alms– consisting of Ausserweger Hut and Hinterpassler Hut– is a particularly easy and family-friendly tour at Staller Saddle.
Starting from Lake Obersee, the trail gently undulates through a beautiful landscape, offering wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. The route is easy to walk and therefore ideal for families, leisure hikers and anyone looking for a short and relaxing outing.
The two serviced alpine huts, located idyllically next to each other, invite you to stop for a break. Thanks to the gentle incline and easy accessibility, the hike is also perfect as a half-day excursion.
The starting point is the parking area at Lake Obersee (approx. 2,016 m) at Staller Saddle.
From there, follow the path along the lake to its far end. Then trail no. 113 leads gently downhill to the Staller Alms: Ausserweger Hut (1,956 m) and Hinterpassler Hut (1,956 m).
Return along the same route to the starting point.
Alternative:
The hike can also be started at Lake Antholz. From there, trail no. 11 leads up to Staller Saddle. Then continue past Lake Obersee to the Staller Alms.
Extension:
The tour can be easily combined with other hikes around Lake Obersee or in the Staller Saddle area, offering additional scenic highlights.
From the Puster Valley Road, near Olang, turn into the Antholz Valley and follow the road up the valley to Lake Antholz.
Behind the lake begins the pass road leading up to the Staller Saddle (2,052 m). The crossing of the Staller Saddle is single-lane and controlled by traffic lights:
From South Tyrol to Austria: every hour from :30 to :45
From Austria to South Tyrol: every hour from :00 to :15
The starting point of the tour is located directly at the Lake Obersee.
Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are sufficient. The tour is easy and well suited for families with children (not suitable for strollers).
