The hike to Rieserferner Hut (2,791 m) is one of the most impressive hut hikes in the Antholz Valley. Nestled in the high-alpine landscape of the Rieserferner group, the route leads through varied terrain into a stunning glacial environment.
Depending on the chosen starting point, the ascent passes alpine pastures, quiet forest sections and later high-alpine terrain up to the Gemsbichljoch, before reaching the spectacularly located hut.
Rieserferner Hut is an ideal base for high-alpine tours and offers a unique panorama of the surrounding 3,000-metre peaks.
This hike is suitable for experienced mountain hikers with good fitness and sure-footedness.
Variant 1 – from Antholz Obertal:
The starting point is the parking area at the material cable car of Rieserferner Hut in Antholz Obertal.
From there, follow trail no. 4 to Schwörzalm hut and then continue on trail no. 3 towards Gemsbichljoch.
Crossing the pass, you reach Rieserferner Hut (2,791 m).
Variant 2 – from Antholz Mittertal:
The starting point is the parking area at the festival ground in Antholz Mittertal. From there, the path leads to the Eggerhöfe farm and then climbs to the right towards Bergeralm hut.
Follow trail no. 3, which first crosses alpine pastures and later leads through increasingly alpine terrain up to Gemsbichljoch.
From the pass, the hut can be reached in a short time.
