The biathlon stronghold of Antholz will be one of the venues for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. With its breathtaking mountain scenery and world-class arena, Antholz will host thrilling competitions and top-class biathlon events. Sports enthusiasts from all over the world can look forward to unforgettable moments as the best athletes compete for Olympic medals.
The biathlon stadium in Antholz, better known as the Südtirol Arena Alto Adige, is a true highlight. As one of the most renowned winter sports centers worldwide, it has already hosted the Biathlon World Championships six times (1975, 1976, 1983, 1994, 2007, and 2020). Since 1978, the IBU Biathlon World Cup has been held here every January. The picturesque Antholz Valley is a paradise for cross-country skiing fans, offering 60 kilometers of diverse trails in winter – and ideal conditions for roller skiing or high-altitude training in summer.
Exactly 70 years after Cortina and 20 years after Turin, the world's largest winter sports event will once again take place in Italy. The candidature of Milan and Cortina won the bid for the Olympic Winter Games 2026.
Antholz will host the Biathlon competitions. Thus, for the first time in sports history, Olympic medals will be won on South Tyrolean soil.
The 25th Olympic Winter Games will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026.

The Olympic rings in Antholz Mittertal provide an ideal backdrop for taking unforgettable photos with the impressive mountain landscape of Antholz in the background.

At five roundabouts in South Tyrol – including the entrance to the Antholz Valley – up to five-meter-high “Stoanerne Mandln” made of local stone will be erected. The Olympic rings in the five colors green, yellow, red, black, and blue will be engraved into them.
In South Tyrol, these stone figures have a long tradition as signposts in alpine terrain. They blend harmoniously into the landscape, will guide visitors to the competition venues during the Olympic Games, and will remain afterwards as a lasting symbol of cultural heritage.
On 27 January 2026, the Olympic Torch will pass through South Tyrol as part of its journey across Italy.
A special highlight will be its stop at the Biathlon Centre in Antholz, where the flame will be honoured in a ceremonial celebration.
In 32 municipalities, commemorative plaques will be installed to honor the achievements of South Tyrolean athletes at the Olympic Games. This initiative pays tribute to those who have won Olympic medals.
The project is carried out jointly by CONI, the VSS, and the Association of South Tyrolean Municipalities. In Rasen-Antholz, the installation will take place in late autumn 2025.
During the Olympic Games, the city of Bruneck invites everyone to join the communal public viewing.
