The mountain hike to the Rotwand summit (2,818 m) from the Staller Saddle is one of the most impressive summit tours in the Antholz Valley. This striking peak lies on the border between South Tyrol and East Tyrol and offers varied scenery and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
From the Staller Saddle (2,052 m) the trail first leads through the beautiful Agsttal valley, passing alpine meadows, streams and wide high-alpine landscapes. As you gain altitude, the terrain becomes more rugged and alpine, offering increasingly impressive views.
The final section to the summit follows a stony path and scree slope. At the Rotwand summit, hikers are rewarded with a spectacular 360-degree panorama over the Rieserferner Group, the Defereggen Alps, and even the Dolomites. The view down to the emerald-green Lake Antholz is particularly impressive and makes the ascent especially worthwhile.
The descent follows the same route back to the Staller Saddle.
