The mountain tour from Staller Saddle (2,050 m) to Hinterbergkofel peak (2,726 m) is a peaceful and scenic hike in the border region between South Tyrol and East Tyrol. The ascent leads through the remote Weißenbachtal valley, a wild and picturesque alpine valley.
Starting from Staller Saddle, the route initially heads towards Rotwand peak before turning into Weißenbachtal valley. The trail follows the gentle valley floor with a steady incline. As elevation increases, the terrain becomes more alpine and offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains.
In the upper section, the ascent continues in switchbacks up to the ridge. From there, a short traverse leads to the panoramic summit. The starting point is Staller Saddle (2,050 m). Alternatively, you can start just below the pass opposite Lake Obersee (parking available).
From Staller Saddle, follow the path towards Rotwand peak, then turn left into Weißenbachtal valley (trail no. 53). The trail leads gently uphill through the valley.
Continue on trail no. 53 to below the Hallscharte, where you turn right onto trail no. 53B. Climb in several, partly steep switchbacks up to the ridge.
Once on the ridge, follow it to the left and within a few minutes reach the summit cross of Hinterbergkofel.
The descent follows the same route back to Staller Saddle.
From the Puster Valley Road, near Olang, turn into the Antholz Valley and follow the road up the valley to Lake Antholz.
