The hike from Antholz Obertal to the Ochsenfelder Lakes is a peaceful and particularly scenic tour in the upper Antholz Valley. It leads through varied terrain, from forest and alpine pastures up into an impressive high-alpine landscape.
Starting from Antholz Obertal, the trail first climbs gently towards Lake Antholz before turning off towards the Grüblalm hut. The unmanaged alpine hut is idyllically set in a meadow and offers a lovely place to rest.
The path then ascends to the Grüblscharte, a mountain pass with impressive views. From there, the route continues to the Ochsenfelder Lakes, located in a quiet and remote high-alpine setting.
This tour stands out for its diverse scenery and peaceful location away from the main crowds. The return follows the same route.
The starting point is the bus stop “Antholz Obertal, Müller” or Camping Antholz. From there, follow trail no. 1 towards Lake Antholz.
After a short time, turn right onto trail no. 9 and follow it to the Grüblalm hut (not serviced). The path ascends steadily through forest and alpine pasture.
Passing the Grüblalm hut, the trail continues uphill to the Grüblscharte. There, keep left and continue on trail no. 9.
The route then leads into high alpine terrain to the Ochsenfelder Lakes, beautifully set among the mountains.
The return follows the same route back to Antholz Obertal.
Take bus line 431 from the Olang-Antholz train station or from Lake Antholz to the stop “Antholz Obertal, Müller”.
