The hike to Grüblalm hut (2,038 m) is a particularly scenic tour in the upper Antholz Valley – perfect for those seeking peace and nature away from busy trails. The route follows a historic military road that winds steadily uphill through the forest in wide switchbacks to the idyllic alpine pasture.
Starting from Antholz Obertal, the trail ascends gradually, offering beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding mountains along the way. The quietly located Grüblalm hut (not serviced) is a perfect place for a relaxing break in unspoiled nature.
Those who wish to continue higher can extend the hike to Grüblscharte (2,394 m), where a stunning panoramic view opens up over the Antholz Valley and the Gsiesertal Valley.
This hike is especially suitable for nature lovers and hikers looking for a varied and quiet route away from the main trails.
The starting point is Antholz Obertal at the bus stop “Antholz Obertal, Müller”.
From there, follow trail no. 1 and no. 9 along the edge of the forest. After a short distance, trail no. 9 branches off to the right.
An old military road then climbs steadily in well-laid switchbacks up to Grüblalm hut (2,038 m, not serviced).
Variant:
From Grüblalm hut, you can continue along the switchback trail up to Grüblscharte (2,394 m).
The return follows the same route back to the starting point.
Alternative:
On the ascent or descent, the tour can be extended into a circular hike via Pichleralm hut (not serviced).
From the Pustertal road, turn into the Antholz Valley and follow the road to Antholz Obertal.
Sturdy hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and sufficient water are recommended. A good level of fitness is required for the ascent to Grüblalm hut and Grüblscharte.
