With its breathtaking mountain scenery and world-class arena, Antholz will host thrilling competitions and top-class biathlon events. Sports enthusiasts from all over the world can look forward to unforgettable moments as the best athletes compete for Olympic medals.
The biathlon stadium in Antholz, better known as the Südtirol Arena Alto Adige, is a true highlight. As one of the most renowned winter sports centers worldwide, it has already hosted the Biathlon World Championships six times (1975, 1976, 1983, 1994, 2007, and 2020). Since 1978, the IBU Biathlon World Cup has been held here every January. The picturesque Antholz Valley is a paradise for cross-country skiing fans, offering 60 kilometers of diverse trails in winter – and ideal conditions for roller skiing or high-altitude training in summer.
Exactly 70 years after Cortina and 20 years after Turin, the world's largest winter sports event will once again take place in Italy. The candidature of Milan and Cortina won the bid for the Olympic Winter Games 2026.
Antholz will host the Biathlon competitions. Thus, for the first time in sports history, Olympic medals will be won on South Tyrolean soil.
The 25th Olympic Winter Games will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026.
Ticket sales for the Winter Olympics started on February 6, 2025 - exactly one year before the official start.

In 32 municipalities, commemorative plaques are installed to honor the achievements of South Tyrolean athletes at the Olympic Games. This initiative pays tribute to those who have won Olympic medals.
The project was carried out jointly by CONI, the VSS, and the Association of South Tyrolean Municipalities.
During the Olympic Games, the city of Bruneck invites everyone to join the communal public viewing.
The “Stoanerne Mandln”, built across South Tyrol’s five Olympic venues, stand as symbols of endurance, unity, and community. They draw on the ancient Alpine tradition of stone cairns – once guides for hikers, now signposts leading to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Trentino, Veneto, and Lombardy.
Designed by Marco Fontanesi, the project embodies the Olympic values of respect, excellence, and friendship. It was realized by the construction company Pertoll from Vetzan, using exclusively South Tyrolean stones: granite, porphyry, and marble.
The “Stoanerne Mandln” remain a lasting symbol of the connection between nature, culture, and sporting spirit – a piece of Alpine history looking toward the future.
